What is this drug and what is it used for?
Peditrace is a clear solution supplied in a 10 ml vial. It provides essential trace elements including zinc, copper, manganese, selenium, iodine, and fluoride required by children and premature infants. It is used to meet the daily requirements of trace elements in preterm infants and children receiving parenteral nutrition. Peditrace can be added to amino acid, carbohydrate, and lipid formulations used in parenteral feeding.
How is this drug given?
The recommended dose in neonates is 1 ml/kg BW/day (maximum up to 15 ml/day). For children weighing less than 15 kg, the dose is 1 ml/kg BW/day, and for children weighing more than 15 kg, the dose is 15 ml/day. It should be administered intravenously, slowly, over at least 8 hours.
